1 If it had not been LORD who was on our side, let Israel now say,
2 if it had not been LORD who was on our side when men rose up against us,
3 then they would have swallowed us up alive when their wrath was kindled against us,
4 then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul,
5 then the proud waters would have gone over our soul.
6 Blessed be LORD, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers. The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of LORD, who made heaven and earth.

The text of the Old Testament for A Conservative Version (ACV) came from the American Standard Version published in 1901. The main changes done for the ACV were the replacement of archaic words with more modern ones, except for the old English pronouns, which were kept because they are more communicative. The New Testament was translated from, The New Testament in the Original Greek According to the Byzantine-Majority Text form. That edition was compiled by Maurice A. Robinson and William G. Pierpont, and is of the Textus Receptus tradition from which came the King James Version.
The ACV was created in response to what its translators saw as a trend toward more liberal or dynamic-equivalence translations that prioritize readability over literal accuracy.
